STTACC President Welcome Letter – by Niki Nelson

My term as STTACC President started shortly after our first virtual conference in August of 2020. The STTACC Board adjusted our meetings from quarterly in person events to monthly, condensed meetings so we can plan for our second virtual conference this coming summer, and bring training opportunities to Classified Staff from the 34 community and technical colleges in Washington State.

I just celebrated my 8th anniversary of working at Green River College. I am fortunate to work in an environment of learning that allows and encourages personal growth. We are not just working for students, but also for our own development as employees. I started as a program assistant for Information Technology, and with the help of both Workforce Education and our Classified Staff Training & Development Committee I am now an IT Customer Support tech. I have been able to prepare and distribute technology to both students and employees currently studying and working remotely.

Many of you may be wondering how STTACC is relevant to you. Besides the annual conference we offer each year, we post training opportunities to our website and social media accounts. We offer some financial assistance toward regional trainings, and we celebrate classified staff with our Exemplary Staff Awards each year.
